The UHNW Institute produces education and research for the people who advise very wealthy families. Its community spans financial and professional services firms, single family offices, and the senior executives, practice leaders and experienced advisers who work in them.
Who joins
Three membership types. Individual members. Firms and enterprise members. And single family office executives, who join through a dedicated programme the institute calls the SFO Circle.
That third route matters for readers of this directory. The badge here marks the institute as an advisers and professionals body, which is accurate for the bulk of the membership, but the SFO Circle means a family office executive is not shut out. They join a room built for practitioners, which has its own value: the people around you are the ones being hired to solve these problems, and hearing how they think about them is useful whether or not you ever engage them.
How membership works
Membership runs by application across the three categories, and the institute does not publish dues.
What members get
The intellectual spine is a framework the institute calls the Ten Domains of Family Wealth, and it describes this as the foundation of its work: a multidimensional way of shifting the conversation toward what actually matters to a family rather than to their portfolio.
That framing is the institute's central argument. Most advice to wealthy families is organised around the disciplines that sell it, so you get an investment conversation, a tax conversation and a legal conversation, and nobody owns the question of whether the family is doing well. A domain framework reorganises the discussion around the family's concerns and treats the professional specialisms as instruments rather than categories.
Members receive tools, case studies and thought leadership tailored to this field, a searchable resource library, private events, and materials built around the framework.
The programme runs year-round: masterclasses, roundtables, book clubs, training sessions, podcasts and signature events, with recent activity including European conferences and masterclasses at Cambridge.
For a family office, the honest assessment is that this is a place to send your senior people rather than a peer network for principals. The material is strong on governance, risk and family dynamics, and the SFO Circle gives your executives a route in.
