The Asia Single Family Office Roundtable is Institutional Investor's closed-door gathering in Singapore, held at the Four Seasons. It is the Asian counterpart to the family office conferences the same organisation runs on both American coasts, and it is deliberately smaller and more private than either.

Who attends

The rule is short and leaves no room: the event is closed to media and by invitation only to single family office executives.

That is the tightest access rule in this directory. Multi-family offices are out. Advisers are out. Fund managers are out. Journalists are out. What remains is the people who actually run single family offices, talking to each other.

Discussions run under the Chatham House Rule, meaning what is said may be used afterwards but not attributed to anyone. Combined with the exclusion of media and of anyone with something to sell, that produces conditions where an executive can describe a decision that went badly without it appearing in print or in a sales pitch a fortnight later.

How access works

By invitation. There is no public application route, no ticket and no published price. Institutional Investor names a contact on the registration page, so an executive who qualifies but has not been approached can make themselves known.

The absence of a published fee is normal for an event of this kind. Institutional Investor's business is research and access for the institutional investment world, and a small screened room of Asian single family office executives has value to that business regardless of what the attendees pay.

What attendees get

Private and intimate discussion of new investment opportunities and of the practical business of running a family office, focused on the issues that matter at the time rather than an agenda fixed a year ahead.

The value here is entirely in the composition of the room. There are no keynote names to weigh, no exhibition hall and no published programme to assess in advance. What you are being offered is a day among people doing the same job, under rules that let them speak freely.

For an Asian single family office, this and the Campden and SuperReturn family office events form the small group of gatherings in the region that screen hard enough to be worth clearing a diary for. This one screens hardest.
