SFO Alliance describes itself as the world's largest peer-to-peer network of single family offices. It counts more than 1,500 individual members representing over 1,100 single family offices worldwide, and it runs events at a pace that few networks in this directory come close to matching.

Who joins

The threshold is stated plainly: only legitimate single family offices with assets over US$400 million are admitted. That is among the highest published bars in this directory, and roughly twenty times the level at which a peer advisory network like TIGER 21 will consider an individual.

Members are single family office principals, senior executives and rising generation family members from those offices. The alliance positions itself as peer-only. It does not publish a statement on whether advisers or service providers are admitted in any capacity, so anyone in that position should ask rather than assume.

How membership works

Access runs on application and invitation. The alliance publishes no dues and no application procedure on its site, which means the cost and the process both come from a conversation.

That opacity is worth weighing against the asset threshold. A network that admits only offices above US$400 million and does not publish its price is signalling that it expects members to arrive through referral rather than through search. If you qualify, the introduction is likely to come from another member.

What members get

The event calendar is the product. Monthly chief investment officer roundtables run alongside regional dinners and lunches in London, Dubai, Miami, Munich, Zurich and beyond, with further activity across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney, Melbourne and New Delhi. Topical roundtables cover specific investment themes, and site visits and immersion trips take members to see things first hand.

The set piece is SFO Week, an invitation-only annual gathering the alliance calls the world's largest meeting of single family offices, with satellite events on specialised subjects around the main programme. Next generation programming runs alongside it, including social events for younger family members aged 24 to 40.

For an office that qualifies, the frequency is the argument. Most networks give you one or two fixtures a year and expect the relationships to survive the gaps. Monthly roundtables plus regular dinners in the cities where family office capital actually sits produce something closer to a standing professional community. The corresponding demand is participation: a calendar this full is only worth its cost to an office that will use it.
