Global Partnership Family Offices has served the family office community for around fifteen years, with members active across more than twenty jurisdictions. It calls itself a champion of the family office, and its distinguishing feature in this directory is straightforward: it publishes what membership costs.
Who joins
There are two tiers, and the split is clean.
Association Membership is the family office tier, open to principals, family members, executives and advisers of single family offices and private multi-family offices. Industry Membership covers the wider community, including service providers.
Note that the family office tier admits advisers to those offices, so this is not a principals-only network in the strict sense. What the two-tier structure does achieve is keeping the people who sell into the sector on a separate and more limited footing.
How membership works
Family office membership is listed at £1,100 a year, quoted elsewhere on the same page as US$1,400. Applications go through an apply form on the GPFO site. The price for Industry Membership is not published, so service providers need to ask.
Set that £1,100 against the rest of this directory and the positioning becomes clear. Peer advisory networks with facilitated groups run into the tens of thousands. Screened conferences charge providers £3,000 for two days. GPFO sits at the accessible end, and the published figure means you can judge it without a sales conversation.
What members get
Association members receive full access to the best practice and thought leadership library, a members portal, the ability to join subgroups, quarterly investment clubs, monthly publications, an invitation to the annual conference, access to a reports database, and networking and social events.
The quarterly investment clubs are the most substantial part. A structured forum where family offices discuss what they are actually doing with capital, four times a year, is the kind of thing that usually sits behind a much larger fee.
Industry members get considerably less: a monthly industry newsletter, limited online access to selected content, and a jobs board. That asymmetry is deliberate and tells you who the organisation is built for.
For a single family office wanting a low-commitment way into a European network, GPFO is one of the easiest entries to justify in this directory. It will not give you the depth of a facilitated peer group or the screening of an invitation-only alliance, but at this price it does not need to.
