FamilyOfficeHK is not a membership network. It is a dedicated government team, established under Invest Hong Kong in 2021, whose job is helping families set up or expand a family office in the city. It appears in this directory because for any family weighing Hong Kong as a base, it is the most direct and least commercial place to start.

Who it serves

The team works with families already operating in Hong Kong that want to expand, with families incorporating there for the first time, and with the professional ecosystem serving both. It is aimed squarely at wealthy families making a location decision.

Since 2022, more than 200 family offices have set up or expanded in Hong Kong with InvestHK's facilitation, which is the government's own published figure and the clearest available measure of whether the programme does anything.

How access works

The team describes its service as free, confidential and tailored to the needs of each family office. There is no membership, no application and no fee.

Read the incentives clearly rather than cynically. This is a government promoting its own jurisdiction, so the advice will not be neutral about whether Hong Kong is the right answer. Within that limit it is genuinely useful, because a government agency has no product to sell you and no commission to earn, which is more than can be said of most parties in this conversation.

What you get is a single point of contact rather than assembling your own list of lawyers, trust companies and administrators from scratch.

What families get

Practical guidance on the questions that decide a location: the legal system, tax structures, the available professional services, and the tax concessions Hong Kong offers family offices. The team also covers policy measures aimed at wealthy families, including the Capital Investment Entrant Scheme.

Alongside the advisory work sits the Network of Family Office Service Providers, a platform the team launched so that families can reach the professional firms they need across the range of services, rather than finding them piecemeal.

The team also runs an outreach programme, including roadshows in mainland China, Europe and Southeast Asia, and it stands behind the Wealth for Good in Hong Kong Summit.

For a family comparing Hong Kong with Singapore or Dubai, the sensible move is to talk to each jurisdiction's promotion body, weigh what each offers, and treat all three as advocates rather than advisers.
