Family Office Super Summit

The Family Office Super Summit is the largest event on the Family Office Club calendar. It runs over three days at a Fort Lauderdale beach resort and draws more than 650 attendees and over 125 speakers. The Family Office Club was founded in 2007 and puts on roughly thirty events a year, of which this is the flagship.

Who attends

The published attendee breakdown is unusually specific and worth reading closely. Recent editions have counted several billionaires, professional athletes investing their earnings, heads of other investor clubs, and more than 250 people described as decamillionaires, family offices, angel investors, centimillionaires, doctors and accredited investors. A further group of private investors attend having submitted investment mandates in advance.

Fund managers, wealth advisers and service providers attend alongside them, and sponsors are listed openly on the event page. This is a deal and capital-raising environment rather than a private peer group, and the summit does not pretend otherwise. The programme includes capital-raising training, and investors present their mandates so that people with deals can find them.

That makes it a poor fit for a family that wants a quiet conversation about governance with three or four peers, and a good fit for one that is actively looking at direct deals and wants to see a lot of them quickly.

How access works

The Family Office Club sells membership, not tickets. Attendance comes through joining, and the tiers are published: a Charter membership starts at $1,450 with a monthly fee of $249 after the initial period, VIP membership is $5,000 a year, and Verified membership is $10,000 a year. Investors can also apply through a separate route on the club's site.

Membership carries more than the summit. It includes access to the other events in the annual calendar, a portal of more than a thousand recorded investor talks, monthly webinars and other tools, so the cost should be judged against the year rather than against one event.

What attendees get

Three days of short talks, around ten curated networking sessions, fireside conversations with billionaire investors, panels, and the investor mandate presentations. The pace is fast and the speaker count high, which suits people who want volume of contact rather than depth on any one subject.

The honest summary is that the Super Summit is a marketplace. Whether it earns its price depends on whether you are in the market for what is being sold, or looking to sell.
