Annual West Coast edition of the Prestel & Partner forum series.

The Family Office Forum Los Angeles is the newest addition to the Prestel & Partner forum series and its West Coast edition. It runs over two days at The Maybourne Beverly Hills and brings together more than 100 family office and family business decision makers alongside ultra-high-net-worth individuals from around the world. The organiser describes it as an editorially independent private platform and states directly that it is not a sales event.

Who attends

The series applies one test everywhere it runs: do you have an offering for the audience, or not? Wealth owners and family office executives with nothing to sell attend as complimentary guests. Anyone offering financial products, services, co-investment opportunities, advisory work or commercial multi-family office services pays for a delegate pass or sponsors the forum. People who wear both hats are assessed individually, and the Los Angeles page notes that a reduced fee is sometimes applied to them.

The published entry level for guests is a fortune of at least 120 million euros, and the organiser's definition of a genuine principal or family office is one holding at least US$150 million in assets and working for one family or a few. The two figures sit on the same page, so treat them as an indication of the bar rather than a precise rule and confirm with the organiser.

How access works

Applications are reviewed one at a time. Private wealth and family offices attend free of charge. Providers are offered a limited number of passes, and unlike the London, Zurich, New York and Singapore editions, the Los Angeles page does not publish the delegate rate. Anyone attending in a commercial capacity should ask the organiser directly. There is no automatic right to attend or to sponsor, whatever the budget.

What attendees get

The two-day agenda covers governance and investment, with sessions shaped around holding and growing wealth across generations. The format leans on interactive panels and long unstructured periods for conversation. The organiser keeps adjoining rooms open throughout for informal networking, with refreshments and meals served there rather than in a separate hall.

Privacy is treated as part of the product. Attendee details are not shared with other guests or with event partners, and Prestel & Partner take no part in the conversations that follow. As the youngest event in the collection, Los Angeles has a shorter public record than the other editions, so families weighing it up may want to read the reports published for the longer-running forums to judge the format.
