- Annual two-day summit on Long Island's East End.
The Family Office & Private Wealth Legacy Summit is Opal Group's summer meeting, held over two days at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill on Long Island's East End. It gathers leaders from single and multi-family offices alongside wealthy investors, wealth managers and the firms that serve them.
Who attends
The audience is deliberately mixed: family office executives, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, wealth managers and investors. Opal runs a large conference business across finance, and its family office events follow the industry pattern of putting principals and providers in the same room rather than separating them.
What distinguishes this one is that Opal is explicit about the two categories and prices them differently, which tells you more about the composition of the room than most organisers will.
How access works
Registration is online, with the attendee type verified before a pass is issued. Opal publishes the terms clearly. Managers and service providers pay a standard rate of US$3,195. Family offices verified as end investors, meaning they invest their own money rather than selling to others, and holding at least $100 million, attend at no charge.
Two conditions are worth noting. Opal reserves the right to re-verify past delegates before granting future complimentary passes, so a free pass one year does not carry forward automatically. And registering on the day rather than in advance means paying the full ticket price with no exceptions, whatever your category.
That verification step puts this summit between the open conferences, which check nothing, and the screened forums, which cap provider numbers outright. Opal checks who you are and charges accordingly, but does not appear to limit how many providers may buy in.
What attendees get
Two days covering the transfer of wealth between generations, the effect of artificial intelligence and technology on managing wealth, social impact investing and sustainability in family wealth. The programme runs panels and discussions with networking through the breaks.
The location does real work here. The East End in late summer is where a good deal of New York family wealth already is, and holding the summit at an art museum rather than a hotel ballroom sets a different tone. For a qualifying family office within reach, a free two-day pass to a verified room is an easy proposition to test. For a provider, US$3,195 buys access to that room, which is the trade Opal is openly making.
