The Citywire Private Office Retreat is the financial publisher's annual gathering for the investment side of UK family offices. It runs over a day and a half each November at The Grove in Hertfordshire, and the 2026 edition on 19 and 20 November is the ninth. Citywire calls it the definitive gathering for UK family offices, and it added a half-day Private Office Forum in central London in April 2026 as a spring counterpart.
Who attends
Invitations go to senior investment decision makers within UK family offices: chief investment officers, heads of manager research and portfolio managers rather than principals or family members. That is the audience Citywire knows from its fund-selector business, and the retreat is built the same way as its selector events, with fund groups paying to host workshops for a room of allocators.
The trade is transparent. Delegates attend free and earn structured CPD; fund groups pay for the access. A family office investment team gets two days with peers and a curated set of managers, and knows exactly why the managers are there.
How access works
Attendance is strictly by invitation and there is no charge for those invited. Citywire notes that demand is expected to exceed capacity and asks invitees to register early. Family office investment staff who are not yet on the list can ask Citywire's private office team; the organiser does not publish sponsorship or workshop rates.
What attendees get
The retreat combines keynote sessions with discussion-led fund manager workshops across several asset classes, around ten in total, with meals, a drinks reception and dinner keeping the group together overnight. The programme is worth up to eight hours of CPD.
The spring forum at NoMad London is a morning: a keynote, roundtable discussions with fund managers and four concurrent workshops, ending with lunch and worth up to three CPD hours. It suits a team that wants the manager access without the overnight commitment.
Citywire also runs family-office-relevant events elsewhere in Europe. Its Private Wealth & Family Office Southern Europe retreat serves Iberia, France and Italy, and its Monaco and Madrid forums draw wealth-manager and family office allocators from those markets.
